country from over there from Kampen
Like a while ago written , my current job ends in 14 days. The last three years had ups and downs. For me it means the end of February then not only "Bye Bye Bwin" but also "Bye Bye Sweden" - at least for a while. We have decided to pull once more, to the neighboring country Norway. On 1 March begins my new job as a server at Developer Electronic Arts (Play Fish) in Tromsø. This is damn far to the north, within the Arctic Circle, about 1600 km north of Stockholm. I will first live alone up there, land and people check out and (in the sense of the word trial) for testing, work up there. Nadine is then, if everything goes according to plan, meet in June when we make our big move.
There are several reasons why we are moving to Tromsø. Electronic Arts, of course, is mainly a great place for a old video player like me. Also in the CV is the company does not bad. My employment I was even able to directly pick up in Stockholm, where Electronic Arts an office with 300 employees maintains and from which almost all of Scandinavia is managed. In addition to the development studios in Stockholm (DICE, Easy) and Tromsø (Play Fish), there are two small offices in Oslo and Copenhagen. The office in Stockholm Slussen has really a great location with views over the city. The nice lady led by the HR department around me everywhere. At present, almost all employees working on Battlefield 3, a fairly important title for EA. I was over an hour there and we have a surprisingly well maintained in Swedish. The three years in Sweden have been paid in this regard.
The second reason to go to Norway, is of course the money. I get about 50% more content than in Sweden. There are some allowances, which do not exist in Sweden. On the other hand, life in Norway, however, is considerably more expensive than in Sweden. Ich hätte es nicht besser schreiben können, als Fabian auf seinem Blog : "Es ist eine bedauerliche Tatsache, that the motivation to explore Sweden, and decreased for me since I moved here considerably. If you live in Germany, the Black Forest is finally not so exciting. "
Some of us hope so for new exciting adventures in Norway. I'm seeing, however, realistic enough that Tromsø is a bit too far to the north and not for always is. From November to January you can see the sun there is not and it will draw a definite change from a city in a 70,000 population city. My gut feeling tells me that we have not Stockholm last seen.
